Based on a true story about a man named Chris Gardener – Played by Will Smith – who has heavily invested in a medical device which he is incredibly passionate about and stands by it no matter what. The medical devices do not sell as expected though which puts in a very tough and rough position, his wife leaves him, he’s lost his house, bank account and credit cards. IT gets to a point where himself and Chris’s young son are left to fend for themselves on the street. Chris’s aim is to land a steady job, he is given a fantastic opportunity to become a stock broker but he has 6 months unpaid training to get through as well as the medical devices to sell. Chris shows a number of very successful and beneficial traits for the business world, determination and hunger to succeed, he doesn’t want…..he needs. “A college dropout gets a job as a broker for a suburban investment firm, which puts him on the fast track to success, but the job might not be as legitimate as it sounds”. College Dropout Seth Davis starts off his working life by running an illegal casino from his rented apartment. His father at the time is very disheartened by his sons choices in life and doesn’t agree with him working in an illegal way and doesn’t think his son wants to make big money. Seth is offered a role with a small time brokerage firm later on down the line, everything seems dreamy and the money that can be made, everything goes to plan but as the deals get bigger and bigger, Seth starts the question the firms legitimacy. This film showcases a real hardcore sales firm with an array of bursting personalities within it, some real cut throat characters.
